Located at 4385 Maryland Ave in the Central West End, the Cooper House project will aim to restore the building to its 1895 glory with a modern twist. The project will include a new roof, elevator and windows; new finishes, plumbing, electrical and flooring throughout; an updated HVAC system; an updated and expanded dining hall and commercial kitchen; and remodeling of the 36 resident bathrooms.
This space offers residential studio rooms for people with HIV who are unable to live independently because of advanced health problems, development disabilities or mental health concerns, according to the nonprofit. The residents require 24-hour nursing support, as well as social services and assistance with daily living.
